SIKORSKY CHALLENGE Festival

From October 29 to November 3, 2024, the XII Festival of Innovative Projects “Sikorsky Challenge 2024: Innovations for Peace and Security of Ukraine” was held at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

This is the third festival held during the war. Today's situation has presented us with incredible challenges, made us realize new realities and develop strategic tasks for the post-war period of Ukraine's recovery and development.

Ukraine's post-war rebuilding should be based on the rapid and effective implementation of innovative technologies and developments in all areas of the country's economy, so this year's XII Sikorsky Challenge 2024 Festival of Innovative Projects was dedicated to these crucial areas of Ukraine's recovery.

The main events of the Festival included:

  • Forum “Innovations in the defense industry”
  • International forum “International support for innovative transformation of Ukraine”
  • Demonstration of interactive capabilities of the Sikorsky Challenge Immersive Virtual Exhibition for international partnership
  • Thematic panel discussions
  • Results and plans of the acceleration program “Sustainable City”
  • Final of the Competition of innovation startup projects
  • Global Greenchem Hackathon implemented under the Global Green Chemistry Innovation and Networking Program (GreenChem) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization with financial support from the Global Environment Facility.

The Festival program was rich and interesting. The Forum and panel discussions were attended by government officials, members of the International Supervisory Board of the Sikorsky Challenge Ukraine Innovation Ecosystem, representatives of funds, accelerators, and investment companies. In addition, more than 340 guests took part in the events and discussions. But the main event of the Festival, as always, was this year Innovation Startup Competition-2024.

The competition received 140 applications from 20 cities in Ukraine, the USA, Spain and the Netherlands. The Expert Council of the Competition evaluated the applications and selected the finalists. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our experts!

As a result of the selection, 82 projects were shortlisted in 7 sections, of which 65 were presented at the Competition. The presentations were held in a mixed format (online and in person). The finalists' projects were evaluated by members of the International Jury, who determined the winners.
