Festival of Innovation Projects SIKORSKY CHALLENGE

From August 12 to 14, 2021 in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the X International Festival of Innovation Projects Sikorsky Challenge 2021 will be held.

The Festival was first held in 2012. Since the launch of the Startup School “Sikorsky Challenge” in 2014, this annual event has gained great popularity among students and entrepreneurs. Indeed, the Festival is not only contests of innovative projects, but also includes interesting exhibitions, master classes, lectures and networking.

People take part in the Festival not only in order to advance its invention or startup. Here you can talk with other innovative entrepreneurs, meet investors and business angels. Thanks to such communication new ideas are born and the philosophy of creative entrepreneurship is popularized. Each year the Festival attracts more and more attention of the society - the program becomes more intensive, the number of participants and guests grows.

In 2020, due to the global pandemic, the Festival, including the Startup Competition, was held online. We were forced to abandon in-person ceremonial events, exhibitions of scientific projects, poster presentations and pitches, panel discussions and round tables.

However, the new online format of the Festival provided many people from other regions, who previously could not join us, with the opportunity to participate in it. This also applies to foreign investors and members of the International Jury, who previously did not have enough time and possibility to participate in the Festival.

About the Festival of Innovation Project "Sikorsky Challenge 2020"

We plan to hold this year's jubilee tenth Sikorsky Challenge Festival in a blended format (in-person sessions and synchronous on-line mode)

Main events of the Festival:

1. International Defense Investment Forum of Ukraine

2. Thematic panel discussions

3. Exhibition of startup projects, breakthrough scientific and technical developments,

including the latest innovation developments in the defense industry

4. Hackathon “Sikorsky Challenge Hackathon 2021”

5. Final of the Competition of Innovation Projects, which will take place in 6 sections:

Section 1: Defense and security
Section 2: Industrial high-tech and space
Section 3: Green energy, ecology
Section 4: Biomedical engineering and human health
Section 5: Agricultural engineering
Section 6: Information technology, digital country, cyber security

6. Exhibition of projects of school students-researchers of the Youth Academy of Sciences

of Ukraine and “Eco-Techno Ukraine”.

Simultaneously with the Forum, the Competition of projects-finalists of the Festival will take place where investors will have the opportunity to select the most promising startups for investment and conclude preliminary cooperation agreements with startup teams.

The competition of startups is one of the most important annual events in the field of innovation in Ukraine. This year's competition is also planned to be held in a blended format.

From August 12 to 14, members of the International Jury will have the possibility to ask questions, evaluate projects and select winners in the nominations:

The best project idea
The best technological solution
The best solving problems of potential customers
The best business model

Based on the results of the online evaluation of the finalist projects, the most promising startups for investment will be identified that will be assisted in commercialization, creation of successful startup companies and introduction of innovative products to national and international markets.

Traditional investors and sponsors of the Sikorsky Challenge include Golden Egg Technology and Boeing, V.S. Mykhalevych Foundation for Scientific and Technical Development of Ukraine, USP Capital Venture Fund, UkrEximBank, ProgressTechUkraine, Business Incubator "Eazi Start", and others.

Representatives of the investor companies will choose the projects of their interest; they will sign Protocols of Intent with the project teams to invest in the projects.
